Black History Month Celebration
Highlights from the Feb. 4 Black History Month reception. Hosted by President Fram Virjee and his wife, Julie, the celebration featured live jazz music, the screening of “Dear Dark-Skinned Black Girl,” and a menu of culturally relevant foods, such as jollof rice, popular in African countries, fried sweet plantains and collard greens.

Students Commemorate MLK Day Assembling Packages for Homeless Community
Titans helped assemble almost 500 care packages for the homeless community.

Campus Gives Back: MLK Day of Service
Cal State Fullerton students, faculty and staff stopped by Becker Amphitheater Jan. 22 to assemble care packages that were donated to Mercy House, a local nonprofit that helps the homeless. The event was held in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Young Men of Color in High School Learn the Power of Their Potential
High school students — mostly African American and Latino boys ages 14-17 in 9th-11th grades — spent the day at Cal State Fullerton’s fourth annual Male Youth Empowerment Conference. They listened to successful alumni and learning from campus and community leaders that college is possible.
