Campus Tour Leads to Enriching College Experience

“My experience interning in Washington D.C. as the Panetta Congressional Intern, has motivated me to continue to pursue public policy and politics post-graduation.”

— Meghan Waymire, political science major

Being the first in my family to attend college, I would have never expected to have been a part of the fantastic opportunities that Cal State Fullerton offered me.

As a senior in high school, I created a chart with my dad of the colleges I had been accepted to, the cost to attend them and my financial aid packages.

I chose Cal State Fullerton not only because of its affordability but because of the vibrant and inclusive environment that I witnessed as early as my first campus tour. I’m finishing my fourth and final year as a political science major and firmly believe that the education and experiences I’ve received have prepared me for what’s next.

Serving as the 2018-19 Associated Students Inc. chief governmental officer taught me the importance of uplifting marginalized and underrepresented voices and collaborative and inclusive leadership.

My experience interning in Washington, D.C., as the Panetta Congressional Intern, has motivated me to continue to pursue public policy and politics post-graduation. I had a front-row seat to see what servant leadership, effective policy making and accountability look like.

It takes a Titan to navigate unpaved paths, as I have done throughout my college experience. It also takes a Titan to turn around and help others choose those same paths, which I hope to do as I continue my academic journey and career.
