Educators across the country recently learned ways to start and navigate conversations when upholding racial justice and inclusion in K-12 classrooms. Hispanic Outlook on Education ranks California State University, Fullerton No. 4 in the nation for awarding bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic students, and No. 11 in the nation for Hispanic enrollment, in the magazine’s “Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics” list.
Cal State Fullerton’s National Resource Center for Asian Languages, directed by education professor Natalie Tran, has published illustrated children’s books in Vietnamese to support Asian language teachers and their students. Tran also was recognized as one of the 2020 “Women of Distinction” for her work in promoting cultural diversity.
Eight staff and faculty members have been honored with emeriti status.
The campus’ emeriti group recently awarded 13 scholarships totaling $26,000 to accomplished students.
The Spencer Foundation has awarded Cal State Fullerton a $400,000 grant for “Project LEARN: Language, Equity and Action Research With Newcomer Students,” which builds upon the success of the Summer Language Academy for newcomer and immigrant middle and high school students.
