Encouragement and support from faculty members can make a huge difference in a student’s success. Students expressed their gratitude to their mentors at the Career and Academic Advising Recognition Celebration.
In recognition of excellence in service to the Titan community, Raymond Lu is this year’s recipient of Cal State Fullerton’s Alumni Association’s Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Lu earned a master’s degree in education-higher education.
Cal State Fullerton’s Class of 2020 McNair Scholars are heading to graduate school to fulfill their advanced educational goals. The U.S. Department of Education-funded program assists underrepresented, first-generation and low-income students in preparing for graduate studies.
In addition to her academic achievements of being the first in her family to graduate from college, Lesley Aguirre holds her Latinx cultures close and celebrates both with pride. But this year is a little different due to the coronavirus pandemic; in-person cultural recognition celebrations traditionally organized by the university’s cultural centers, departments and faculty, staff and student associations during commencement season were not held.
In a recent virtual celebration for graduating seniors, Cal State Fullerton recognized 20 Guardian Scholars, all former foster youth who beat the system to earn a college a degree.
For his outstanding work in student affairs,Cal State Fullerton’s Clint-Michael Reneau is the recipient of the 2020 AVP/Senior-Level Student Affairs Professional Award from NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
To better reflect the student communities it serves, Cal State Fullerton’s Chicana and Chicano Resource Center has changed its name to the Latinx Community Resource Center.
For Makayla Herrera’s leadership, civic engagement and advocacy, she is the recipient of the 2020 Tuffy Award for President of the Year, sponsored by Cal State Fullerton’s Division of Student Affairs and the Student Success Initiative.
Graduating seniors in the Abrego Future Scholars and the Nicholas Academic Scholars were recently honored during a virtual celebration, hosted by Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Scholars, which oversees the programs.
