Future Teachers Use Art and Science to Build Children’s Literacy Skills
Cal State Fullerton’s SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union Center for Creativity and Critical Thinking partnered with Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District to help develop the literacy skills of English learners at three elementary schools. The summer camp focused on using art and science to build students’ language skills.

Doctoral Candidate in Education Recipient of Two University Top Student Awards
Elementary school counselor and education doctoral candidate Karla I. Aguirre is the recipient of two Cal State Fullerton student awards: the Extension and International Programs Award and the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. She will participate in the university’s commencement ceremony for the College of Education at 5 p.m. Friday, May 17.

Two Grad Students Take Three Minutes to Win Campus Grad Slam
Graduate students Benjamin Stanonik and Erica Stemmler made short work of Cal State Fullerton’s first Grad Slam contest, in which competitors had three minutes to present their thesis research. They walked away with the competition’s top prizes.
